Just a heads up on that link. That is for the 60Hz inverter and not the 50Hz. I'm not sure if that would matter?

Yes a different seller. Higher price and no Buffalo courier but Express at over R450 instead of the about R30 courier.
Now the local seller with 1 year warranty looks not to bad.

    That inverter is also 110V.

I was referring to the inverter most of us bought several times (220V 50Hz), here's the link:

    https://banggood.app.link/VC56OsiOZcb

I wonder what could have lead to their decision to stop importing to us. Let's hope it's just temporary, otherwise it will be very sad day for most DYIers.

    According to specs it's 220 V

The link provided indicates 220V 50Hz on my phone. Click image for larger version.

I also have a question for the smart one's.

The inverter reads roughly 1.3V lower than what the battery is. For example the other day we were shedding, the inverter's alarm sounded at 11.5V.

However the agm was still trotting on happily at 12.8v . . . Measured by the Victron via the app. It's a bit annoying. How can I get around this? Should I try and disable the alarm? Will the inverter not cut out at a certain voltage leaving me high and dry, even though the battery is still very much happy?

I belief you are in the minority. These inverters tend to display a higher voltage than the real level. I belief they will use different circuits to drive the display and then the portion that will switch the inverter into alarm mode and then switch it off.
Not much you can do. Also the error varies a lot over different voltages. Some other China models demonstrate the same accuracy problem.

Mine always reads less. Although tonight it's allot core accurate. Click image for larger version.

A small power supply board broke off; it was soldered to the main board with 5 pin headers. Soldering it back on appeared to be a mission, so I just pushed the remaining pin headers backwards through the PCB and soldered the back side onto the pins sticking up. The inverter appears to be working correctly again.

There are three boards attached to the main board with pin headers - these will all be weak, so I suggest taking some hot glue to them to reinforce them. There are also some input capacitors which aren't glued down - I also suggest gluing them to the main board.

The board layout and the way it's put together is still going to be weak, and vibrations will kill this thing easily. If you take it on the road, put a nice thick cushion under your inverter to shield it from the bumps.

Following your advice to securing the parts on the inside, I used Sikflex to support all the parts of concern.

Here's my completed box... I also used some plastic foam sheets to cushion the battery cells on the inside of the box.

So I went on holiday for 10 days. Connected 2 x 5w and 1 x 20w spot on my trusty inverter. Arrived now, its off. It switches on for 1 sec, then goes off. Surely if the fuse is gone, it wont switch on?

Do you think one of the spots got wet and fried the internals?

Mine is also officially a POS

From the noisy fan, to it reading too low and sounding alarms. I now hate it.

Which other inverter is suggested below 3k? Possible? Pure sine . . . My usage is never more than 1500w

The good stuff costs money, the really good stuff even more.

A suggestion: Google for 2nd hand Online Double Conversion APC UPS's. Look for the 48v models.

Once a Co must replace them because the battery pack has gone, and because at full power they only last like minutes, you can pick them up for <R3k.

The ONLY caveat: If you connect them to a larger AH bank, the charging is the only issue to sort ... but that is a discussion for another thread.

The Chinese inverters are also overrated. My 600w European inverter can run a pump motor that the Chinese 1500w one couldn't .
