Dit lyk toe so:

Na so paar probeerslae toe gaan hy Weber toe. Sonneblomolie teen omtrent 280C.

Swart. Daai pan is GLAD binne.

Dit is 'n chemiese reaksie. Warm pan en oile. “Polymerization”

Ek het die pan so paar keer al gebruik vir 'n lekker gebakte bees en nog so paar ander. Werk goed.

    .

    Vanaand was dit hoenderboboude.

Maak die pan WARM. Ek sit so telepel Advokado olie in. (Lekker ho smokepoint)

Toe lyk dit so:

Lekker warm kole gemaak. Ek kon so 300 meet met my multimeter. Die Weber maak 'n lekker oond.

Bak hom ondersebo. Dan loop die oortolligge olie af.

    Nou lyk my pan so:

It seems like I have a fairly durable layer on my skillet. Washing it with warm water and soap does nothing to the coating. I don't even apply a layer if oil after cleaning. There is no way for the cast iron to rust with that coating.

Before every 5th or 6th use I apply a thin layer of avo oil and heat it up past smoking point until the oil dries up. Brand new layer.

Shoooo there are quite a few myths on this thread

Soap on a Cast Iron(when seasoned properly):

Seasoning is actually not a thin layer of oil, it's a thin layer of polymerized oil, a key distinction. In a properly seasoned cast iron pan, one that has been rubbed with oil and heated repeatedly, the oil has already broken down into a plastic-like substance that has bonded to the surface of the metal. This is what gives well-seasoned cast iron its non-stick properties, and as the material is no longer actually an oil, the surfactants in dish soap should not affect it. You usually don't need soap anyway but if you do it's fine. The one thing you shouldn't do? Let it soak in the sink. Try to minimize the time it takes from when you start cleaning to when you dry and re-season your pan.

    Seasoning:

Flaxseed - Can be used but is very expensive and is considered an oil that "drys hard" making it more likely to flake off at some stage, more than some other oils.

Suggested by top cast iron manufacturers:
