Default Looking for a Vehicle - and pulled the trigger on this

Had limited budget for a vehicle and was a toss up between old jeep, old disco, old pajero, old well anything. Drove a few vehicles and none got me really excited.

Spotted this one by chance and voila, deal done! Had a D1 3.9 before so not unchartered territory.
    '99 D2 with 264000km on the dial
Methinks ES Trim level (cloth trim and no jumpseats)
New cooling system (radiator, pipes, waterpump etc etc)
    Head and gaskets done
    New battery
New clutch master and slave cylinders
    New Powerflow exhaust

    To be fixed:
    Front window (cracked)
2 x Fobs to be synced
    Central locking not working
    2 x new tyres
    aircon regas
    And the 3 amigos

    And thats it for now

    Hi Doctor V

Congrats. I think you mean a GS? The ES was the full house model. Good luck.

Nice, I have a real soft spot for D2 after spending 4 years with one.

Being a 99 model means you should be able to do the CDL mod on it.

And be happy no sunroofs! I have had years of issues with mine! Do the cdl mod if it hasn't been done yet. Cdl with tc makes the D2 very capable off road.

    Congrats! Nice looking Disco.
If you need access to a Nanocom for the fobs and to ID your 3 Amigos sensors, give me a shout, I am in Parklands.

    Congrats Doc

I really enjoy my D2 they are great cars. My FIL in law is adamant that its the best LR ever made but probably only because he has one
You must look at a Rock 4x4 front replacement bumper when you have some cash available. Gives a whole new look at to the Disco.

    Good buy.

You won't easily find better value for your money, if at all.

Of all the vehicles I've owned, the D2 is my favourite as an all rounder.

    Enjoy!

Ooooh I didn't know you had a Nanocom. I might need to drop a new map onto mine if I could bribe you with a few cooldrinks.

Doc, I have a Hawkeye which can do your diagnoses too if Melkbos is easier for you.

    Bring beer!
I go back to work on the 13th, so if you would like to do it before 2nd March, that's the deadline.

Eish see now missed a few messages. Work and work and work.

Car runs awesome and methinks I just drive it to hear the sound of the V8 from that Powerflow exhaust!!! Since I got it have done about 800km. Been to worcester twice and on the open road it gives about 7km/l. City driving it sucks, but since I do mixed open road and city its difficult to say. but looks like bout 5.

Broken down - Yes. Car park at shopping centre. No electricity. Slapped open the bonnet and found whoever put the wire on battery clamp tied the nuts with his hands. quick sort.

Next item is to bleed the clutch - slave was replaced so methinks there is air in the system. just have to figure out how the whole system fits together and then do a one man band bleed.

Oil leak. Yes. Thought it was diff or transfer but after dragging myself underneath, it looks like a pipe fitting from the ABS into the engine. Central locking works - coz I have long arms and rear door works when you tie ropes in place! hahahahahahaha
