Default Aftermarket shocks - Please suggest a brand

For the life of me I can only think of Ironman, Amada, and OME..Who else makes decent off-road shocks?

I was recommended Monroe for a mid-range upgrade, so far they have been great.

Pedders Foam Cell TrakRyder shocks and Gas TrakRyder shocks are really good. They're used exclusively on Roush Stage 2 and 3 Rangers, and on the Avis 4x4 rental vehicles.

Not one reply, not one response. No emails, even after phoning them....

That always gives me red flags. What if you have a warranty claim in future... If you can't even buy a product from them imagine if something goes wrong.

Amazing. It appears that the economy is booming and companies are struggling to accommodate all the demand

I am sitting with the same problem having to choose between Pedder, Bilstein and Iron Man. Each supplier says it is better than the others so who do you trust!

I chose Ironman eventually yesterday. They are more expensive, but I am banking on their foamcell product, as my requirements are to have minimal fade on rough gravel.Let us hope I made the right choice.

I run the foam cell Ironman shocks after Ironman gave me a free upgrade when they couldn't get the nitro ones for my car.

Very happy with the service and product so far.

I have had standard shocks on my Colt, Camil, OME and Monroe. OME lasted very well and Camil was outright rubbish with a tiny shock inside a coil, leaking oil after just over 20k km. So at 140k km I fitted Monroe, the 4th set and it is still doing fine at 195k km but the Colt is a car the past 11 years and don't do offroad work as it did in the first 9 years of it's 20 year's life.

My Cruiser p/u was fitted with Dobinsons within the first 1k km of it's life and after 127k km they are still fine. Tested well on the shock tester and no oil leaks. The Cruiser did some of the worst roads
you get in Africa with heavy loads and I can only praise them. They were established in 1953 and are still made in Australia unlike others which is made in China. For myself I won't buy anything else. Got mine from N1 4x4 in Pta, don't know if they are still the importers.
