Default Groenkloof Nature resort 4x4 echo trail

Is there anyone out there that could recommend this trail? Is it an easy beginner trail or is there some challenge to it?

All of the above! There are some nice challenging sections, but these can usually be bypassed with 'chicken runs'. I was also impressed by the beauty and animal diversity of the reserve, we even saw a black-backed jackal there.

So I took the morning off freedom and gave the Groenkloof Nature Reserve trail a go.
It was fun till hit the mud hole and I decided to give it a skip.
Then we got to Rocking mountain high and there I got stuck leading to the damage on the last photo.
The rest of the trail I took the easy way out though maybe this 4x4 trails thing is not why I bought a R400K 4x4 for....

I also got some trail rash there, want an aftermarket rear bumper now but eish, it's expensive... You quickly learn your vehicle's capabilities and limitations on those rocky sections...

    Don't worry about the comments.

I did not even do that section with my bakkie. I drove with a friend once in that section and that was enough to know my stock standard bakkie is not getting through that without a scratch or dent. My sidesteps are very low and would have taken a beating!

Mine was not bought to do 4x4 trails. Mostly sea holidays and roads where necessary but not specific for trails. If I do a trail and I think the route might be a bit rough on the vehicle, I take the chicken route without feeling like one!

I did groenkloof with my FL2, no damage, but I skip things that could damage my car. It's all about knowing your car, knowing your line, and knowing what you cant do.

It also seem you went alone, perhaps next time go with someone with experience. They can usually advise you what not to do.

Groenkloof isn't always fun and games and depending on the time of year can be easy going in the winter to lots of mud in the summer which can be challenging for standard 4x4 vehicles. I remember doing Groenkloof the first time in our Duster during the winter months and I definitely knocked the bash plate a couple of time on the Rocky mountain section. Beginning of last year I did it in my Triton and it was very muddy and my side steps took a hammering thru the river bed section, but at the end of the day I was expecting it even though its not the "lekkerste" sound when it hits thru or scrapes over rocks. I could only suggest to join maybe off road group or go for some training, it can be very expensive when things go wrong in any vehicle.
