Default Land Rover Defender Drawer system advice needed

    Hi guys,
this forum is full of nice people with tons of different experiences and expectations, so I hope to have a nice discussion soon!

I use a 110 for all our trips in southern Africa, and it is a standard 5-door version.
It needs an upgrade spacewise, I am a bit tired of carrying ammo boxes in and out ten times a day.
So I am looking for a drawer system as a start.
Front Runner drawers look nice, but are quite expensive. There is a commercial member (Stone Accessories) that offers a drawer system for around 7.500 ZAR, about half the price of the frontrunner system.
Is there anybody out there who knows either one of the systems and can tell about advantages/disadvantages?
Which one has more space, less screws pointing inwards and punching wholes in beer and wine containers... simply is better?

And, of course, if you have a system that you dont need anymore: I am looking, and it does not necessarily have to be new!

By the way, I wish a nice 2020 with miles and miles od adventure and travel to everybody!

Is building your own not an option?

Only advice I can give you is be sure that the complete drawer system is covered in cloth otherwise rattles etc will drive you crazy - simple but many overlook this. If its covered in aluminium chequerplate dont touch it.

I would suggest trying to make one that suits your needs. Will cost you half the price again and you build what you want.

    Hi,
yes, I already thought about more noise from behind - I surely try to avoid.
Building one could be an option, but I am living in Germany and the car is in SA. Makes it a bit complicated!
And the time that I can spend in Africa is limited.
Otherwise it would be a great project for lots of week-ends.

If you build yourself use Furnlock slides, they are pretty good and can take some weight.
Here's my own build. Modular so it ca convert to a double bed (for short people)

    Hi,
here are some pics. The open Landy is taken form the website of Stone Accesoires (http://www.stone4x4accessories.com/defender-110.php)

, I think about buying this drawer.

The other drawer is the frontrunner one. looks a bit more solid (https://www.frontrunneroutfitters.co...r-tdi-td5.html) as it has double slides on each side. But the price is a lot more.

And I am not sure about the INNER dimensions. Maybe the Frontrunner has a bit mor usable space? I will send a PM to stone and ask.

    You definately want sliders?

I went low tech with off-the-shelf aluminum square tube and connector system and friction large lid ammo boxes. The Hummer H3 isnt big in the boot area but it suits my needs. Cheap as chips and easy to assemble, you just need a saw, file and drill plus some spanners. Take you a day the next time you pop out, if you pre-order the materials

I designed and had a system made for me, little more expensive that way but could give you some ideas. I did mine like this so that the fridge is not so high...

Thank you all for your help and suggestions,
I decided to buy the drawer system from Stone Accessories (https://www.4x4community.co.za/forum...-Your-Defender)
It looks nice, but I have just seen it on pictures. So I will be able to tell you if it was a good decision by the end of April when I go to SA and install everything in the back of the landy.

Almost exactly like ours, and designed that way because SWAMBO & I are short, so it's important that the fridge is as low as possible.

We also have gullwing windows, with storage boxes on the sides - you can pack a LOT of stuff on the sides above the wheelarches.
