    Default Water pressure tester

    Hi guys,

I am trying to get my hands on a water pressure tester that can connect to normal threaded tap fittings.
As usual they are prolific in the USA but I have not been able to find anything locally, does anyone have any idea where I might be able to buy one?
Looking for something like the below,

I bought a gauge from Plumblink and built myself one that connects via gardena fittings.

I'm trying to upload a photo but it refuses to load. Maybe due to "loadshedding".

Plumblink has a similar water pressure gauge.
    Genebre brand
You will have to buy one brass fitting and then you can connect a piece oh hosepipe with a hose clamp and use hosepipe fittings on the other end.
Will thread onto your garden tap and will also thread onto the male fitting of your water meter

It actually comes with a flexi hose and a adapter that fits a 3/4 " male fitting, ie. A standard hose tap

Got two from my local irrigation shop to put on my Azud filter, before and after, to check pressures, Gel filled nogals for around R65 a while ago, they had a few with varying ranges.

This was from A&J plastics in Koedoespoort, SA Plastikor also had stock.

    do the finger test.

open tap wide - stop water with finger, if you can,,, pressure far too low.

if you battle to stop water with finger, pressure ok.

So I put together a tester, on my unregulated garden tap I get a whole 5 bar!!! (fantastic, supposed to be 8-10 I am told)
I installed a new 400kpa pressure regulator and tested a tap on the line and I am getting only 2 bar.
My question is, do pressure valves have an "effective range" that they need to have coming in, in order to output what they are set for?
So is it possible that the 5 bar incoming is not enough to cause 4 bar of pressure to make it through the valve?
We thought the valve itself was faulty so we changed it out but the new valve is also showing only 2 bar.

Or is that not possible and I have some issue under ground between the unregulated tap and the feed to the regulator?

I am not an expert but I believe 8-10 Bar is too high. 5 Bar is more normal. Lets wait for the proffessionals to give their opinion (s).

I did a factory tour at on of the valve manufacturers and been told that you will seldom see more than 3.2 bar from a 400kPa valve.

But why your only get 2 bar after the calve, I dunno. Maybe phone up the manufacturer and make it their problem?
I have met some crazy people. They have made me their leader...

If your incoming pressure is 5 bar which is very good then any pressure reading after the prv will be less than 4 bar. I forget what most 400 kpa prvs are set to. But I think its about 285 to 350 static.
