Smile Defender 110 - Nuts and Bolts Restoration

    Hi All,

    New joiners here.

We (Alex and Lewis) are currently stripping our TD5 Defender 110 back to the chassis for a full nuts and bolts restoration. We are based in the UK and this is our first restoration project we have chosen to film and document! We wanted to say hi and get involved with all you Land Rover veterans out there in different parts of the world. Hopefully what we are doing may be of interest and we would love to feed off your knowledge and inspiration. We appreciate in South Africa, you need to build things pretty solid to ensure things don't go wrong when you are many miles from the nearest garage, so I am sure your input will be invaluable in building something bulletproof.

We also hope we can help here as we know a fair bit about Land Rovers, Defenders especially.

Our Defender is currently stripped down to the chassis, with the engine removed and we will be cleaning it off for a full inspection in the coming days. I will upload a few pictures in a moment after this post, but if you want to see more we have started a Youtube channel and Instagram page, both under the name BUST2BUILT. Please do check it out if you want to follow the build.

Many thanks all and glad to be a part of the forum, please do comment and let us know your thoughts and advice on what we should do to this truck to make it a reliable tow beast.

    Cheers,

    Bust2Built Team

    Hi everyone,

A bit of a build update for you all. Please check out our new video where we remove the bulkhead and the engine, gearbox & transfer case. Appreciate our filming leaves a lot to be desired but there may be some helpful tips in here for anyone undertaking a similar job.

More than happy to answer questions on anything that may have been missed, please do ask away!

That would be amazing...if the route is all safe to do at the moment. It would involve a lot of cash and time off work, but would love to do something like that one day 👍🏻 Thanks for subscribing 🙏

Nice job guys. Started following you guys as well.

    Good luck with the build.

Maybe Admin/mods can move this to the Land Rover section?
