Default Snomaster 72l Dual F/F smelling, needs sealing

    Hi,

My Snomaster is of the older variety and has internal aluminium sides and bottom which are not sealed around the perimeter leaving a gap for liquid to seep out into the insulation which is exactly what happened.

I had some poorly packed meat returning from a hunt which, with the weight of the other meat on top pressed out blood which stank to high heaven. After repeated washings and airings it has improved.

So I wish to seal the bottom to avoid future potential occurrences, I am unsure if a Marine Grade Silcone will adhere to the alumimium adequately.

    Any suggestions?

I contacted Snomaster this morning before posting. The service department told me that they could not assist in the cleaning as they would do exactly what I could do. Wash with with vinegar and then soapy warm water. I asked if they could replace the insulation and got a No.

It was Pierre sold me the fridge some years ago, told me it was their last model with the Danfos compressor (which to me was a selling feature) .......... it does not have the Danfos.

Not to sure that I would want his advice again but will reluctantly try him in the absence of other advise that may be forthcoming.

Can't offer any advice on the sealing, but I had the same problem with smell. Leave about half a cup of bi-carbonate of soda with a few drops of vanilla essence in the fridge to absorb the smell.
    Cheers,

For smell you can also use
Aniseed oil, my son used to wash his bait box with it.. That fish smell totally evaporated

I also have one of the older type Camp Master fridge/freezer's with the aluminium pannels on the inside.

One of the first thing I did on the fridge was to seal the corners and seams with clear silicone and it worked good enough so far.

    Thanks,

and the silicone does not look like peeling off?

Did you especially prepare the ally with something?

    No pealing so far.

I have applied the silicone only as a thin seam, right inside the corners, covering about 3mm exposed surface. I also made sure to press it into the "crevaces" as best I could.

Yes, I have just thoroughly cleaned the surfaces and made sure it was totally dry, before applying the silicone.
