Ja, thanx Herman. I am also a member of a Patrol forum in Aus. Because of the ABS limiting space, some have changed the air filter system to accommodate the battery, but I was hoping someone local had done this exercise. Mine currently sits at the back and is not ideal.

    Hi John,

Yes, the dual battery is in a box behind the rear seat.
There is space for the 40l Engel and the battery box just behind it.

I have installed the National Luna solenoid under the hood, and run the cables inside the car.
Behind the back seat I have put a Brad Harris plug to remove the box if needed.

    Will take some photos tomorrow.

I have a GRX 4.8 and have been searching all the forums to see if anyone has put the battery under the bonnet. I'v been looking for a solution and seem to have found one. Basically it involves moving the washer bottle. Thanks to RockyGU in Oz. The link is

There is also the option of using a spcialised battery that is smaller but more expensive in size. If anyone tries this please post pics - I will give this a go in a few weeks.

    Carlo,

I see they moved the washerbottle and the a/c drier unit.
On the photo the washer bottle look smaller than the one in my car.

Here are pics of my installation.

    Hi Lunar,

Yeah - I think that you can buy a smaller bottle from the Piranha guys. I'm going to check thi weekend and see whats involved.

Is that a custom sliding drawer in your boot area or one bought of the shelf - either way do you mind sharing the cost and supplier?

that's very neat, but would still like to pursue the front placement. Who did your installation?

    Carlo

    Did the installation myself.

The fridge is strapped onto my DIY board. (I see no need for a fridge slide.)

I took the boot mat and made a template on a piece of chipboard.
Paint the board with a sealer and stick some rubber flooring tiles onto.

I took out the standard cargo hooks and used their holes to fasten the board.

Lastly I put some cargo rail onto of the board, the fridge and the battery box are strapped down on this.

Wish I was a bit more of a DIY... This is something I have to sort out before my next trip. Thanx for sharing.
