    I've checked all relevent fuses.
Its when you turn on the cruise control at over 40, no light comes on and no function.

Disconnected battery for 25 minutes and then reconnected. Still the same.
I had the clock spring replaced about 28 000 km ago

Its possible that the stalk was not re-connected when the dash/steering was taken apart during the clock spring change.

It's been working well for over 2 years then suddenly......
I don't think it's the clock Spring because all the other buttons work

Yeah it has nothing to do with the clock spring, i was saying that maybe when they replaced the clock spring that they didnt reconnect the stalk or connector for the cruise control. But if it had been working after clockspring and now not thats unlikely too

    Latest update.
It's at FinAuto at the moment.
They have not been able to pinpoint the problem yet.
    Will keep you all posted.

They have traced it down to the switch on the steering wheel.
Getting expensive over 4K for a second hand switch and fitment as well diagnostics.

Fitted the second hand switch module and it still doesn't work.
I don't actually think that is the problem.
Has anyone out there ever heard of the switch module having to be replaced.
The agents can only supply a new one in 21 days (I am told) which makes me think they are going to import one.
Anyway they have put it all together again so I can use the vehicle while we decide what to do.

    Ok here's the latest
Apparently it is the switch that is at fault as it sent an error code.
To order a new one is about 5K so I put it on hold.
They cleaned up the slip rings and put it back together as I needed the Jeep back.
On the way home I thought I would press the cc button just for fun.
The thing WORKS and is still working today.
So it only cost me R1500 for diagnostic and 2 hours labour.
    So beat that.
    Thanks for all your help.

I dont know if this relates

On my mercedes if the ABS lights come on indicating the ABS system is not active any more the cruise control doesnt work.
sort out the abs bas etc and the cruise control resumes working again

Happened on my Grand Cherokee. Stopped working but I didn't have checked because it was due for a service in a couple of months. Drove it like that and tried it every now and then. Suddenly started working again and has been working ever since. Couple of years now.

Still don't know what caused it. Glad it repaired itself.

Not sure if this is related to Jeep, but in some instances the cruise control will also disable when a brake light is blown.

No lights blown. Also had a brake light out before and it worked fine. Just some gremlin that sorted itself out. So many electronics that it could be anything that decided to reset itself.

CC worked for a while but today it is dead again. I banged the steering wheel and the light came on then died again.
Replacement part quoted at R3240 plus vat and R435 plus vat to fit it.
I find the same part on Amazon.com for $50.
Even if it costs me double that to land it here its surely a better deal.
    Any advice please.
