    Pulled the caravan out today.

    Tomorrow a cleaning, snd pack the bedding, stock up through the week. Friday pack the clothes and off we go.

    SIL and Daughter are taking the Conquerer through on Thursday and I might just join them.

    I thought I would go through and have a recce and ensure everything is sorted. Might post a few pics

    Don't buy D shackles,buy bow shackles-Makro,Mega4x4 etc

    Thank you sir. I had a look at them on the Internet. Why do you say that I should choose them? The metalwork is all flat metal where they should be fitted.

    This forum taught me that the towball is not to be used for extraction purposes.

    Yes, I am new to the 4X4 world.
    Amongst other things,a bow shackle can take loads from the sides.
    D shackles are designed for straight loads which are pretty rare in the offroad world

    Using this weekend as a dry-run for some new mods for CKGR trip, thus don't judge me for being completely over-packed for this one

    Can we buy wood at Rametsi (enough wood) or should we just bring with? (sorry if I missed it in the thread / docs somewhere)

    There are usually informal vendors selling wood at the 4way stop from Swartruggens - about 2 -3km from the Rametsi Gate.But I would not bet on them always being there. I don't know if Rametsi sells wood, there used to be a little canteen, but I don't have the latest info
