    Default D5 reliability

Is it too soon to make a call?
Owners what km's have you done? Assume most still under motorplan, but any big issues?

considering what Kingsley Holgate is putting them through in the DRC, I'd say reliability is pretty good.

    I'd avoid the Ingenium engines

Not sure which ones he's driving, most likely the 3.0 Td6?

    No

The Si6 (3L SC Petrol) is the same as in the F-Type and in the last D4 petrols.

The Td6 is basically the SDV6 of the D4.

The Ingenium engines are the 2L diesel and a straight 6 petrol (not available in SA yet).

Default New Discovery (5) Reliability and build quality.

I have owned a Disco 4 HSE for many years.
I am happy with the vehicle, and unlike many topics in the forum reporting poor reliability, I have really only had to deal with a few (expensive) niggles.

Soon the time will come (Feb 2020) where I will upgrade this vehicle. Most obvious choice is the new 5.
I tow a double axle caravan and the DIsco 4 could do it like no other car I have owned!

Iíd like to hear from the forums Discovery 5 owners on their experiences.

    1. Build Quality
    2. Reliability
    3. Tow performance (and what do you tow)
4 What options you added that were a waste of money?
5 What options do you get value from and what would you add again?

Well, you also just added to the "many topics in the forum reporting poor reliability"

Because it's those "few" expensive niggles that makes the customer to brand their vehicle unreliable.

    They seem pretty reliably.

Weve had one major engine failure on a SDV6

Couple of ingenuim engine failures due to turbo seals failing w

And 2 turbo failures on the SDV6

Then we've had a few with drivetrain vibrations which propshafts usually sorted it.

And we've had one that pulls itself into the corner into oncoming traffic... scary.

Other than that. Services and brakes and small niggles with the infotainment system.

Those are too many issues to be summarised as "pretty reliable"

Other than that. Services and brakes and small niggles with the infotainment system.
In simple English, sounds like unreliable.

How long is the D5 with us?For the amount of cars through their workshop I think that is not bad.It is a new product and there is always issues with new models.

    Byaru , I apologize
Today while leaving my holiday home, pulling up the hill away from the sea, my beloved Disco 4 SDV6 failed.
I heard a snap, briefly lost power steering as the car slowed from 30kmh to a standstill!
The car lost so much water I thought we were giving birth to a new born.
I can only imagine the dreaded crank failure.

And here I was prepared to buy a new Disco in February!
No doubt this will be expensive!
New Disco HSE R1.4 Mil ... probably ainít gonna happen.
