Fray, would the cost be about the same on a Prado 120? And will everything be working including rev counter?
There is never a right time to do the wrong thing and never a wrong time to do the right thing!
I really like that idea, especially a GD6 option.
how do the speedo and rev counter clusters work. can I keep the original and will it still work?
also, what happens to the other light indicators, like engine failure, or battery alternator, glow plugs, etx, etc.....obviously the newer engine has more electronics and sensors, and alerting lights. how do i deal with that.
This really depends on the vehicle that the setup goes into. We do wire up MIL, Alternator and Oil pressure if the recipient car has the indicator. We don't really worry about the glow plugs, as our climate doesnt demand the use of glow plugs on the modern diesels.
Major issues will be dealt with by factory limp mode and we do allow for an ODB2 connector, so fault codes can be read by pretty much any code reader should anything go amiss.
Here’s the next one about to go live:
2.8GD6 going into a 2006 Hilux
will post updates as we go along
I'm watching eagerly, maybe I'll do a similar transplant soon.
please keep us posted on progress and pictures......pictures tell a thousand words.
