    Default Boat -Slip way

I need help with the following process. We want to build a slip way into the see for normal size sea boats. Would think that a 4-5 meter width will do the trick.

Where do we apply for approval, would like to compile a check list of all the homework required i.e.

    1. Requirements to choose best location
    2. Application to start the process, what, where, when
    3. Environmental Impact study, required , Y or N.

    etc.

Any contact numbers of people who has already done it?

Speak to the local municipality, they will point you in the right direction.

Gosh sounds interesting. Is this for personal use or the public? I have launched on many slipways that are not much wider than a trailer, I would guess around 3m? Others are built to cater for 2-3 boats at a time.

Are you talking normal ski boats 5-6m length of more Nsri size 9m+?

I have absolutely no idea how to proceed but I would guess that as a civ Eng @4etoureg would be the right guy to at least point you in the right direction ?

Was a nightmare trying to get permission on Knysna lagoon.
Start with Coastal Management Act then onto Mr Google with " building below high water mark" as key words.

This is for owners of Estate , would say normal size 6 meters max, no commercial boats.

Family owned ground next to Brenton on Lake caravan park for maybe 20 years. Constant battle re HWM then sold it.
Shortly after there were fights re raising berms etc then the floods came.... Attachment 552374

Your friend or enemy is Dept of Environmental Affairs

You are doing something within the boundaries of high and low water marks and also access to the sea.

I would suggest search for a specialist company that deals with these issues and which knows Environmental Affairs. Dealing with DEA directly will tax your patience

    These guys come to mind

I have a colleague who is a coastal engineer and also works in the environmental field - on leave at the moment but back at work on Thursday.

I can make inquiries if you would like me to.

Be prepared to spend plenty of money on specialist reports and design fees.

The objective is to create a checklist / blue print with steps to follow , contact numbers, etc. to establish the extent of the work ,costs, timeframe etc.

I saw no permit required solution. Older 4x4 tractor. Owner brings trailer and boat. Tractor is used to launch. No slipway. Seem to work.
