Well she's back in Witbank. Drove all the way no issues, with the 540km I drove and the 280km the previois owner drove, she did 820kms in 1 day with no issues at all. Temp stayed according to the VDO gauge under 80 all the way except at the tolls it just topped 80 and in town it pegged on 80.the moment I got going again properly it went back under 80. I get on the gas and it rolls coal like a monster! Thanks so much to everyone for all the advice before and during the time and to the guy at the Shell garage in Bloem who had a 2.4 Puma and advised me what diesel to put in thank you. Thanks again to everyone for answering my questions and being so patient with me. Time to enjoy getting it on my name with the glorious municipal departments then it will go through in February for a fresh service and inspection.

    Thanks again all!

Yipeeeee! Now you need to get the workshop manual and learn how to do your own basic services.

Maybe someone in SA can send you one, if not let me know and I'll make a plan from Saudi.

Maybe you should do the rolled up newspaper trick on your viscose fan.

Just to check that temp rise on slow speed.

Do you maybe have like a video or a guide for dummies how to do that?

I think if it was going to do something dumb it would've done it today, or am I wrong?

You're not wrong. Welcome to the Td5 club, Mate!

Now go spend a couple of Randelas to have a Little Black Box or Madman engine monitoring system installed - either one of those will scream at you loudly if anything goes awry on your motor. You will therefore be able to stop worrying and ENJOY!

(PS - You better start growing a very thick skin quickly: its not gonna take long for the Twenty Hundred Two Thousand and Eleventeen Landie jokes to start coming your way...)

Thanks a lot, first job in February is to get a full service and inspection and some sort of EMS.

As for the jokes I'm ready with tons of Jeep and Land Cruiser jokes to send their way.

Madman fits nicely in the water temperature gauge hole.
