Or about to be. Does a Lexus V8 fit in a D3/4?

I have not heard of it being successfully done.

I bought a car from them recently. Deal comes with a guarantee (can't remember now how long, might have been at least 2 months). If this is the case here, this could be a real steal, unless the price is not correct.

Not completely sure about this, the motor and gearbox were replaced, but the vehicle was no longer 4 wheel drive, only rear wheels were driven.

That I can recall, and my memory eludes me at best, that was the end of the project, nothing further reported in terms of further changes such that 4 x 4 and air suspension functionality was restored.

I think had perfect success been the case, there would have been a tremendous marketing opportunity on this forum for mods in this regard, which I cannot say I have seen..

I have driven a very smooth D3 with a Lexus V8 conversion done by Dan the Man, ex Roverland. If I remember correctly he converted air to coils, for reliability and it is rear wheel drive only at the moment.

It might be the same one. I recall something similar.

Anyway, it's not really worth it, as you would lose everything that makes a Disco a Disco, or at least, that is how I understand it.

I do agree with you, I wouldn't do it to my D3 if I had one. Dan has the time and skill and access to a workshop. When I chatted to him about it he said that the Lexus was a fraction of the cost of going genuine and he didn't need the 4x4 function, only reliability. If I recall correctly, he did say fitting the 4x4 function back was not impossible. I have his number, let me ask him quickly.

I stand corrected. Thanks for clarity

I wonder whether a bank would finance the R120000 plus R100000 for a Disco V8 engine?

If I understand correctly, replacing a tdv6 with a petrol V8 is not a straight forward conversion. Any body know of anyone who has done it?

Well, maybe someone jumped at it.

If the engine is gone, for 120k plus another 150k, you can drive a Disco 4 with brand new engine at 270k. Not a bad price tbh.
