    Default Gen4 brake help needed

    HI guys,

Seeing that Eskom has left us in the dark and it's raining, please do me a favour

I have a feeling my brake accumulator on my Gen4 is dead/has died.

Sit in your car, close the doors and windows, switch Aircon and radio off. Turn the ignition key on, but not the engine.

The ABS pump will prime the braking system, you hear it buzz. Then pump the brake pedal until it goes hard. How many pumps between the ABS pump buzzes?

Problem for me is the pedal never goes hard and pump buzzes every 2nd pump to try and pressurise the system.

Rivonia quoted me R7k, just want to get some feedback to confirm mine is abnormal.

    Thanks!

Does the car brake as per normal when in use in the road?

I can hear the ABS pump engaging often, but mostly the engine sound or road noise blocks it out. No warning lights etc though, all "feels" normal.

Perhaps you are looking for answers to questions that don't exist? If all seems normal and the car stops as it should I wouldn't worry too much. In any case, the ABS system should know if it doesn't work as it should and will probably illuminate the warning light on the dash.

Very possible, I am very good at overthinking these things. Hence the reason I am asking someone with a gen4 to confirm how often the pump primes the accumulator when you pump the pedal. This way I will know if mine is losing pressure faster than what it should.

Maybe someone knows, I don't unfortunately.

I tested my Gen 4 for you and confirm that the ABS pump cycles on very second operation of the brake pedal. Hope this sets your mind at ease.
