    Default Deep Cycle Battery Options

    Hi Boys & Girls,

I need to replace my deep cycle (105mah) with a new one.

What is available these days, is there any better options etc?

I use it i a battery box running my two fridges (NLís 50 & 90 lt) from it, charged by a Ctec 250s DC-DC...

    any advice is appreciated...

...and what if you're aren't that guy? I am looking also for a ~100Ah battery, and since we put the vehicle in storage for months at a time the lead acid batteries discharge too much, and inevitably suffer. So I've been looking at AGMs, but have not settled on one.

It makes no difference if it is FLA, VRFLA, AGM, it's still Lead Acid tech - they all still have to be kept on trickle charge all the time when in storage.

What I mean by serviceable is to be able to check SG and top up electrolyte levels properly.

Most people murder their Aux Batteries / Camping Batteries by leaving them in partial state of charge and even worse low electrolyte levels.

An affordable Flooded deep cycle battery properly maintained, will outlast any expensive poorly looked after sealed AGM....

I generally do not buy from websites with no pricing stated. Highly annoying.

For sure leaving on a trickle charger is best. However for the time being it's not an option for me. Our vehicle is in storage without access to AC power. I was under the impression that AGMs had a much lower self discharge rate than FLA and SLA batteries, so that AGM might be better. I'm also going to look into a solar trickle charger, that might sort me out.

With what do you charge your deep cycle battery?

And does your 12v system fully charge your deep cycle batts??

    Hi Guys,

Does anybody in Cape Town have a good source for Deep cycle batteries? I am looking for a 105 A/hr battery that will be supplying 1 fridge/freezer and a few LED lights at night. This will be supplemented with a basic solar system while at camp. Also the battery will definitely be stored on a smart charger while at home.
I have so far received a price of R2269 for a battery and R1273 for a smart charger. these prices were quoted ex VAT. I got these from one of my suppliers here at work.

    Stay Safe
    Craig
