    Default FL2 Air Con Compressor

Please can someone share their expertese.....my air con works fine and is effective.bhowever, it makes a terrible noise. It sounds like bearings in the compressor are dry. Sometimes it quiet but mostly it is noisy.
I'm tempted to try source one from a scrap yard but people have advised against that saying it can contaminate my system.
Is that true is that possible?
That grinding noise is only persistent when I press the aircon button. I'm not sure what pulleys or tensioners drive the air con compressor but I have my doubts it is any of these. Any advise perhaps?

Could be the aircon clutch, a scrap yard compressor will be fine as long as it's inspected and cleaned before being installed.

    Ok thanks.
What's the best method to clean it.
Are all the compressors the same for the TD4.
And assuming I can install it, can I still drive the car to an aircon place to have it re-gassed or will driving it without the gas/oil destroy it?

There has been a discussion on this before on this forum - my FL2 aircon (and others) is also noisy when its first switched on, but it quietens down after a few minutes.
