Maybe barriers can be erected. This will help if you swerve out of the road for animals etc. or at least if you have taken your eyes off the road for a few seconds.

Many people are pushing to have the road closed or barriers put up. Council cannot close the road or put up barriers as it is a private road, on privately owned land.

If it is closed it would be terribly sad for 1000's of us that drive up there every time we are in the area. The views are amazing. Now thousands of us have to lose that privilege because of the life choices of a few people.

And anyway, if you drive normaly there is no way you can go al the way down. Even if you do leave the road at a normal speed that is sensisble for the road, you will not go all the way over the edge.

There were local kids in a bakkie that also crashed down there a couple of years ago. But it was after 1 o'clock the morning, after a night out at a popular club. So one might assume they were drinking and speeding, but I might have another comment deleted.

I heard there was a council meeting held recently. The deaths on this road has been discussed and something might be done.

I understand from the article that the council cannot do anything as the land on which this road is, is privately owned. At least they can make a fire under the owner, although it seems the owner is willing to do something - even out of his pocket.
