    Default Maccanetta

Later next year, after our Covane / Massingir trip, we want to visit Maccanetta. Any suggestions on resorts and things to do? We are currently looking at "tan 'n biki" resort. Camping.

Safety, security, decent food and neat ablutions a must.

Stayed at Roelize Lodge earlier this year in a chalet, very nice pool, the food in the restaurant is great, their chicken is very good. Not sure if they have camping available.

Roelize does have camping. Nice place and a bit away from the hustle and bustle.

Roelize very nice ,and has camping . but that said , rates are about 600 rand a day for a chalet . Tan n biki also very good , but can get very busy . stayed at both places , have a preference for Roelize . A s for what to do ,Maccanetta is a laid back place that has very little to do, lots of resorts with pubs and restaurants , so eating and drinking , and a swim is about the best one can do . But , you can arrange for a boat trip to Inyaka , thier is also a shell island to go visit , and boat trip on the Nkomazi river . For boat trips you need passengers to make it viable , can be expensive .

I have stayed at Tan n Biki twice during December 2018.

First was on my way to my destination in Moz. Weather was really good which caused quite a few of locals to come to the resort. I spoke to a guy in the swimming pool and he said they came through for the day from Maputo. So the previous comment on it getting a bit full has merit. That being said it was not so overcrowded to make it a bad day. Just busy. They had a jumping castle/slide that goes into the swimming pool. The kids enjoyed that a lot.

On the return trip weather was not nice at all which in turn did not attract a lot of locals.

Accommodation was clean and neat. Food was good and R&Rs were really good.

We walked to the beach but I would not say it is a swimming beach where we were. Get's deep really quickly with shore dumpers. Not sure if it is always that way but we found it like that on both occasions.

I also spoke to a boat boy who said they drive really far to their fishing grounds so that would not be an option for me.

    I would stay there again.

We will be camping at Jay’s Beach Lodge December. Will give you an update on how it is.

All I know it’s a smaal lodge with 10 big camping sites, a few bungalows, bar / restaurant and close to the beach.

    Pricing very reasonable

Been at Cova.co.za/Roelize twice and enjoyed both times, although it was before the opening of the bridge which I believe has made it more accessible to the locals.
