The rainfall figures posted is not that high, I thought it would be more. Much much more is needed.
I had that thought too, so far nothing much to write home about. After official warnings, we expected more rainfall .

Our guests also sent me this pic from Ovamboland. Not my pic. So there has been solid rains high up as well:

So for those of you heading to Kghalighadi (Kaa Pans) I suggest first check on conditions on the ground. 132 liters of water every square meter is plenty of water.

Not the Delta, no. The rain at Ondjiva area will end up in the Kunene river, not the Okavango. There might be a dramatic rise in river levels at places like Kunene River lodge and Epupa falls thus the warning issued to Namibia. I think Epupa will be spectacular in 3 or 4 days time.

The Delta gets fed by rain in the Angolan Highlands which ends up in the Cubango river which becomes the Okavango. That water takes 4-5 months to reach the Delta.

correct, but the Angolan highlands have had good rains too, so should be filling the delta by February again. Desperately needed. I was there last week, and couldnít believe how bad itís gotten

Just look at the red area.

The pans are going to loads of fun and some geniuses will still attempt to drive across. Recovery services should start lining up!

Thatís clear, but Angola government reported substantial rain in the Luando NR. That rains surely must end up in the Delta albeit in a couple of months?

Apologies, did not see post #58
