Default Prado 150 - Jerk when selecting 1st gear

    Hi All,

I have a Toyota Prado 2013 4.0 V6 (Automatic obviously). With 230 000 Km's on the clock, full service history at Toyota.
At times when I stop at a stop street or at a traffic light the car will select first gear (I assume it is first gear) and she will engage it forcefully there is a hard jerk when it is selected.
My friend says it could be a mounting going on the gerarbox, but I am more convinced that it is in the gearbox and am preparing for a huge bill.
Next service is due in 9000 Km's but before I take it to Toyota and they confirm it will be $$$$$$, has anyone experienced something like this and what they did to fix the issue?

Would appreciate any feedback you may have.

    Thanks
    Madgadd

Not yet fortunately, but then again I only bought mine 2 weeks ago. I do believe that Toyota states that it is never required to replace the gearbox oil, but for starters I would recommend to do that first.

    Not the gearbox. !!

It is the known propshaft 'bump' on FJ's and older Prado's. My 2012 Prado had the same problem. It feels as if someone gave you a slight bump from behind or like another member described it, you have a bowling ball rolling around in the load by. There is a bulletin out for this, although some dealers will deny it. The propshaft must be replaced, not just greased because that is temporary solution.

I would also first get the gearbox oil changed too.
Not sure if it is one of those adaptive/learning boxes, maybe get it reset.
