I normally buy ropes from Southern Ropes in Paarden Eiland. They have a very very big variety and you buy per meter.
I have bought telescopic poles at Leisureland Campworld before. They made them to my requirements; a bit longer than normal.

    Yes, difficult one.
The gazebo's do work, but you normally need 2 to set them up. If not, you might bend a piece of the alu frame or worse, break a bit of plastic. Then you really stuffed.
The ripstop units from is extremely heavy but they do last.
Using a tarp for a day or 2 is fine, but they tend to make noise in the wind and the holes tear out very easily.
Best one I have seen to date was called an "event shelter". Light and very easy to set-up.

I use a 3x3m gazebo. The gazebo takes a bit of practice to erect and take down if you are alone, it is one of those concertina "quick erect" gazebos. My ground sheet is 6x3m. I have had friends camp with me, we positioned the ground sheet at the tent entrances at sides of the gazebo. This setup gives nice shade and space. The gazebo has sides that can be attached if the weather turns bad. I have a 3x3m cargo net that I use as a "storm strap" for windy conditions. A gazebo doesn't like wind and a normal strap doesn't work as well as the cargo net.

So I tried my hand at the tarp- I had to attach it to my tent as I couldnít attach it to trees as there wasnít any and I had to drive. It worked fine but pulled my tent skew ish so not ideal. My neighbor showed me a better way to tie down my ropes on day 4. Hereís some pics

I need separate and definitely thick and strong poles for the back- the telescopic poles from OW is way too flimsy. You can see my tent being pulled but it couldnít be helped.

Has anyone used stretch tent fabric as a tarp?

These are the tent pegs I use.
    Very useful in windy locations.
With storm straps if there is a gale.
    Nice to feel extra secure!

Got one of these from Takealot today for less than Game's 2019 price, which was a bit of a bargain.

Will get rope from these folks next week to make guys.

Also got these telescopic poles, which are very nicely made:
Adjustable / Telescopic Camping Poles - Caravan, Trailer, Tent Awning or Tarpaulin . 4ft to 7.5ft | Parow | Gumtree Classifieds South Africa | 273951557

I wanted to get one of these, but they aren't available here at the moment:

Might get my boet to send one out from Oz land one day.

This bloke uses one to good effect (his videos are good too):

Thanks very much for this useful tip! Went to Southern Ropes this morning and got about 30m of good strong UV resistant rope for guys for a hundred rondts!

It was measured by weight rather than length as it was an off-cut. Bargain!
