Exclamation HELP! Jimny Burning Fuel! 12l/100

    Hi Guys,

My Jimny 2011 has recently begun using loads of fuel. The exhaust is black with soet and I can smell the fumes are rich with fuel.

I have replaced the spark plugs, air filters ect. Nothing seems to be mechanically broken.

Last year November my catalytic converters gave out and I replaced them with a Van der Graaf freeflow exhaust. Everything was running fine but I started noticing about a two month back that my fuel economy was high. I'm averaging 12L/100. When we replaced it I didnt chip it or have any modification to fix the check engine light.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do?

Is the car running on closed or open loop conditions when scanned?

how are your revs on iddle? is it high? also what color r tje plugs, are they sooted? do u hear any hissing/sucking in the engine bay wit car running

if ur high in fuel could be 1) vacuum leak which is easiest fix. then look for other causes such as leaking injectors, compression issues, poor spark, etc

according to the guy above me, since u deleted cat have u aswell removed o2 sensors? cause without feedback to ECU ur car could be dumping fuel because is not receiving feedback from o2 sensors

You dont need cat foolers on the Jimny , I just removed the inside of my cats and then you bridge the two white wires on the plug of the cat , problem solved and never had issues after that.

I had the same problem with mine. I also tried everything.

It eventually turned out to be a blocked pressure release for the fuel tank.
Pressure would build up in the tank and cause overfueling. The fuel smell came into the cabin and I had to drive on recirculate to stop it.

It was a quick fix in the end. Might be worth checking?
