Default LR drive shaft on Hilux D4D 4x4

Ok 2nd hilux with same problem.
1st vehicle leaked oil at 125000km. LR wheel. Seal replaced and leaked within 6 weeks. Replaced bearing and seal. Problem fixed.
2nd vehicle is on 250000km, started to leak on LR wheel. There is slight play on the rear wheel, up/ down. Thus the bearing must be shot. The dealer are saying they want to replace the shaft at a cool R7500,
Anyone else had problems with this

Maybe you should rather stick to Toyota parts.

It seems these LR parts always leaks oil....

I also thought Land Rover parts...

    Realized he meant Left Rear
Always think: Could this be sarcasm?

There were rear wheel bearing issues on some of the first D4D`s. Some diff`s had steel shielded (ZZ) instead of rubber sealed (2RS)
bearings. Shielded bearings are not waterproof. There were some mixed up with rear wheel bearings.
It is not what you buy its what you build.

Had a similar problem on my Hilux's FR sideshaft. (No. Not Ferrari Roma, or Ford Ranger, but Front right)

Turns out the bearings and bushes were shot and had to overhaul the entire front diff, also at a cool can't remember but it was in the region of R7k if I remember correctly.
If Force is not the solution, not enough of it was applied....

I would buy the bearing and coller at Toyota, take it to a reputable place that does wheel alignment to press it on at the right depth and there you go.

and the abs ring + retainer. Both need to come off. These parts aren't too expensive. Bearings you can get from bearing man.

I made up a bearing replacement kit for my hilux that sits in my overlanding sparesbox. Total cost was less than a R1000. Sold the hilux with the kit to the new owner.
