Petri i think the serpentine belt came off. It might be that the water pump also runs from it so it will overheat when she drives.

Friend (and Member here) just whatsapped me
His daughter's 2007 Petrol Polo has a warning light "EPC", and the Battery Light also came on now.
He's in Welkom and doesnt know anyone in CT area that can help.
Anyone here knows what these lights mean, can she still safely travel to some service centre etc etc??
THANKS, I 'll also try Google now with the limited mechanical knowledge I have
Anyone has Jos Hartog's number, Hazard Bonako??

Hi Petri
My sons 2009 1.6 did the same and it turned out to be the brake switch. So he had brakes just no lights.
Not sure if this warning indicator could have more meanings than 1 though so Id exercise caution.
See it - Plan it - Believe it - Do it
Girl I know had the same issue with her car. Turned out to be a fuse that was blown. Ask the young lady if she is able to check that, also if her brake lights are working.

We had the same on one of our company Polos (we have about 80 of them in our fleet) . Guy drove it after light came on and engine was moer toe.... So be careful driving the vehicle with that error.
We had to replace the engine.
Petri, in what area in Ctn is she. Maybe one of us can assist her, at least go have a look at the car.

Hi Petri,
EPC stands for Electronic Power Control. It is normally related to throttle pedal, throttle body, intake system or ABS, Cruise Control issues and normally switched on with another light. It also reference the Engine control unit, ESP system, steering angle sensors etc. So it van be 1 of many things from n pedal issue to put the engine into limp mode. It can also be a engine sensor or even a wheel speed sensor. Best to have it looked it by scanning for fault codes, it will lead you directly to the actual issue.
Best not to drive, and get it sorted earlier rather than later.
With battery light being on a quick check could be the vehicle battery which could be bad and causing other issues switching on the EPC light. .
Thanks Guys, Johan seems sorted!!![]()
