    Default South Luangwa Boating Emerald

    Hi all,

We're staying in Crocs Valley camp in the beginning of January and are looking for a budget option to go on a boat safari.
Any hints or clues? Many thanks!

Perhaps there is a huge gap in my knowledge, but I am not aware of any boat safaris on the Luangwa River.

I also dont know of any operation that run boat safaris.

Shame because with the amount of water that's in the park in January, it would lend itself to being explored by small boat!

I have never seen a motorboat in the section of the Luangwa river that runs within the park. Its full of sandbanks and hipppos for one thing...or maybe it's a park rule ?

    I have no idea ...

Speak directly to Charl at Croc Camp, he's been in the valley forever and is not only a great guy but very helpful.
All their contact details including Skype are on there web site.
The valley in the rains is fantastic and if you're a birder keep an eye out for the Pitta, Northern Carmines Bee Eater and loads more. It's also a good time to see the Wild Dog.
Enjoy and have a great trip.
