Who does really good custom ripstop canvas work in Cape Town?

Good day all. I need to get the pop top canvas sides of my North Star camper replaced. I have had two different outfits here in CPT have a go at this but so far neither outcome has proved rain proof or well designed and fitted. I have been told that there is a German guy somewhere in the Brackenfell area who does excellent custom canvas work for 4x4ers. Anyone know him, got contact details or had work done by him? All suggestions welcome and thanks.

I would also recommend Shorty (aka SAUK here on the forum).
I think the person you are referring to (german) is Canvas world. Not sure about this, but at some stage he was selling. Whether it happend or not I see canvas world in Brackenfell

I haven't used Shorty, but I can vouch for Christys in Diep River - they built my very first rooftop tent that I designed 28 years ago, and we lived in it for two years, no problems. Since then, they have done all my canvas work, including new side awnings, an RTT cover replacement and many custom-built equipment bags. Excellent work - they have completely scaled down the shop side of their business from an outdoors shop to more of a general sports shop, but as far as I know the canvas side is still going strong (I used two of their pretty old awnings as extra cover for a 10m x 8m stretch tent during a howling south easter on Saturday night for my daughter's 21st, and they did the job beautifully.)

Thanks everyone for possible contacts who do good canvas work. I know Lennox well at Cristy Tent & Canvas as they call themselves now and he tried very hard to solve the issues we had with the original pop top material design and fit on our North Star camper. Sadly, it didn't work out that well even though as usual Lennox did his best. So will try Shorty and any others that we can track down. Got to get it right - sleeping in a damp bed when it rains ain't fun........
