"Lewis Hamilton is reportedly ‘demanding’ a new deal with Mercedes worth £40million-a-year, according to the Daily Mail.

The UK tabloid say that a ‘source close to Hamilton’ wants improved terms on his existing deal, which they believe is currently worth £36million-a-year.

Talks between Mercedes and Hamilton are expected to restart now that the 2020 season is finally set to get underway, while the respective futures of Silver Arrows boss Toto Wolff and Hamilton’s team-mate Valtteri Bottas also need to be resolved with their contracts expiring at the end of the year, too.

Hamilton’s new contract has become a talking point again after Red Bull boss Helmut Marko suggested Mercedes‘ sponsors could help meet those demands that would ensure the six-time World Champion remains the highest-paid driver on the Formula 1 grid.

“Someone else will pay it,” Marko is quoted by grandpx.news.

“Petronas only has to transfer a little less to the team and send it to Hamilton instead.

“But a limit on the driver salary is essential.

“Of course we still have to fulfil the current contracts, but we must do something in this area as soon as possible.” ..."
It's from the Daily Mail, ergo, completely false.

Why not LH? Surely he should start as favourite?

Interesting that everyone is discounting Vettel. Here's a man without an obvious future in F1 and nothing to lose, I think he could either be determined and dangerous or he can't wait for the season to be over to do other stuff.

I am not so sure, champions don't easily fade away. I think he'll be dangerous both for LEC and the other teams.

Should Ferrari ask him to move for Charles he will tell them to GF.A

However I'm not sure Ferrari will have the car to compete

My thoughts too and I am rather hoping that Ferrari and RB have been sandbagging and their cars are competitive otherwise we're in for another MB1 & 2 snore fest.
