Default Level-it spacer kit for Hilux

    I'm considering fitting a 20mm Level-it spacer kit on my 2017 Hilux 2.4 GD-6 Xtra Cab 4x2.

This will apparently lift the nose by 30 - 40mm, and hopefully improve the "nose dive" look.

Does anyone have experience with this mod, are there any reliability issues?

    Jou RPM drop redelik.

Hoor dalk by Uys, hy het self 'n 2,4 (dink so).

    Dankie Petri,

My Bridgestones het seker nog so 10 000km om te gaan, so ek gaan nog bietjie besin oor die groter bande.

This is a particular bugbear of mine and, as much as I should, I just can't sit on my hands.

There's around 1.5 good reasons for doing spacers (looks and bigger tyres), and none for extended shackles - and about 4 good reasons for not doing either , but you'll never hear this from people who sell them.

I installed 20mm front leveling spacers on my Hilux Vigo about three years ago, giving it 48mm of lift.

Earlier this year I also installed longer greaseable shacles at the rear.

    No issues what so ever.

Yep I can also confirm I had no problems with the spacers and extended shackles.

Did 30k km on original suspension and now sitting on over 55k and it still behaves the same.

I added 20mm Spaces with a 5mm packing plate infront for that litttle extra

Did not want to go with bigger tyres as I do a lot of Highway Driving. Was afraid of the Auto kicking down more and the effect on Fuel Consumption which is pretty good lately.

Sorry - just seen this post. The guys who sell these things won't like the answer, but I'll let some Aussie guys on Youtube start. This is a great video, but if you're looking for the bit on front spacers, go to around 16:50

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=153bxVsWXns

    Some of this holds true for rear shackles or blocks as well. Add to that;

    • You could break your shocks - especially when empty or bouncing as your shocks will be too short and they'll top out
    • When bouncing it takes longer to reach your bump stops and you'll put extra strain on your suspension
    • Your COG goes up without the stronger shock to help control it
    • Because of the height you'll think you can load more and you'll break / bend / damage your spring.
    • Watch your brake and ABS lines.

My 2-cent worth. I have a 2012 Hilux with an EFS lift kit and a level-it spacer kit, I had it fitted a year ago and have had no issues with it at all. I do use it in the bush and play, but have never done extreme 4x4. The reason I fitted the leve-it kit was due to my tyres (285/75-17) would rub at a certain angel when turning on a 4x4 trail.
