    Default TD5 Exhayst manifold.

On my last trip I heard a strange noise and investigated. Seems like the exhaust manifold has warped and is bypassing on No5.
The stud seem to be broken. I know that this is a problem so I want to remove my manifold and repair.
Is there anyone with a manifold laying around that is willing to sell for a reasonable price.
I want to remove the webs and have it ceramic coated. Then I will exchange it on my car.
Once this is done I want to same mod on one I removed and do same mod to SWAMBO's TD5.
When that is done I can forward the manifold to the next person if someone is interested.

Is there evidence to prove that putting a ceramic coat on the exhaust manifold actually makes a difference or is it just a fad?

Ceramic coating does reduce the heat, it will need to be sprayed on the inside as well not just out side, helps heat soak

... I thought the remedy was to widen manifold eyes to larger diameter so more free space around studs ... ?

I think they enlarge the outer holes to M10 only, use the long studs with spacers then the nut, also de web the webs as well,

Why spacers if I may ask? Never heard of that. I will enlarge holes little to handle expansion, remove webs and coat. Then put it back using new studs and nuts. As I have 2 TD5's I will do one, test, and then do the other.

skim it and be done with it. most motor engineering companies will do it.
    they normally charge around R500.
fit Wurth studs with the long side of the thread into the head.
normally if you remove the manifold you often can get the broken stud out by grabbing it with a vice grips.
if broken inside you will need to drill and easy out
do not fit thicker studs otherwise the gasket will not fit.
do NOT drill the gasket as you will hurt yourself badly!!!!!!
those gaskets are like Minora blades and if the drill grabs you will lose fingers or worse!!!!!!!
stick to 8mm as going bigger will rip the thread out of the head instead of snapping it.

Had the same issue on my D2 Td5, resolved by doing Ceramic coating + Wurth studs + Removal of some of the webbing between the manifold pipes (this helps the manifold expand without pulling itself out)

Orxy. Who did the ceramic coating for you. I know Sartor brothers in Selby do that. They are quite close to me so I will go see them.

As my time is limited due to work I want to get a spare manifold to do the complete unit, change on my car, send mine to do changes then swap out on Swambo's car.
