Considering a replacing my Amarok with Either the Isuzu X-Rider or Amarok again, i use the bakkie mostly as a family vehicle on long distance trips from rural farm to JHB , but it does load goods on the return trips sometimes

I think you are comparing two very different vehicles, take both for a long drive and decide.

I highly doubt that the Isuzu can come close to the drivability and comfort of the Amarok on a long trip.

The Isuzu may well have more leg room for the back seat passengers though.

The new Izuzu which really looks the part will be launched next year https://www.iol.co.za/motoring/lates...akkie-34898963. This would influence my decision. Maybe too long to wait though.

Think you would be silly to get the current Suuz instead of the Amarok. New one maybe...

Strange but true - the Amarok has been on the market in its current form since 2010 and the Isuzu since 2012. So the Amarok's replacement is long overdue and can't be too far away. I would just wait for the new Isuzu.

Well the Amarok did receive a facelift and it looks better in my opinion. And why change something that works so well!!! The running gear and chassis I mean. Would just add a few luxuries

The new suuz better be bloody good for me to consider it. Looks wise it is there!!

There is nothing wrong with the Amarok. I would just go for something else after driving the Amarok. I am currently in the situation where I am driving the facelift of a model I've been driving previously. Chewing off my own arm would be more fun than this.

If you want a workhorse and a honest, reliable bakkie that still feels like a bakkie when you drive it, buy the Isuzu.

If you want a comfortable, reliable bakkie for tar and gravel use and one that drives and feel like a luxury suv, buy the Amarok. Itís chalk and cheese.

Are both 4x4 and auto or manual. What is the engine size of the Isuzu.

You mention budget, then I would go for the Isuzu no questions asked. Its still an awesome bakkie and that 3.0 is proven. You should have all the nice goodies in black edition and maybe in a year you could get a good trade deal on a new one.

The x-rider to my knowledge only comes in the 250D and with a manual gearbox, it produces 100kw. Very reliable and proven workhorse.

The ride quality of the of the suuz wont be as good still not bad compared to similar priced vehicles, but if you get the X-rider black you will have some nice extras that base amarok won't have such as an 8" touch screen infotainment, leather seats etc etc...

Oh and the Isuzu will feel slightly more sluggish compared to the 2.0l Tdi Amarok.

I can't speak for Amarok. But I own an X-rider as a family vehicle and we happy with it. The best way to explain is that what you see is what you get.
The only thing I would have liked is cruise control.
