2004 Prado Brake Booster pump motor buzz?

Hi guys. Hoping some wise Prado okes can enlighten me on the situation regarding the buzzing of what I assume is the brake accumulator (after some googling). The electric pump buzzes at start up and at random times while driving. I bought a used Prado a few months ago and in my head the buzzing seems to be happening a bit more often than it used to. I'm just wondering whether this is normal or whether there's possibly a leak in the system somewhere? Also, the little clunk from the steering when driving over uneven surfaces which I have read could be wear on steering column... do i need to worry about that too much? And lastly, who are the Prado specialists down in CPT who I am hoping I don't have to visit soon?

It's normal for the booster to run for a 10-20 seconds on start up, to build up the pressure in the accumulator. Also when driving it should run every now and then for a few seconds to restore pressure.
If you start having unusually long runs of the pump then either the motor or the piston are playing up, but this is usually a 100 series problem.

Thanks soooo much for the advice! I didn't see any notifications that anyone had responded. Called a guy in Brackenfell who apparently recons these things and from what i told him of course he wants to do it (at just over 10k) Obvs the longer I drive it teh more things I start to notice but will also look up the shop you mentioned!

I'd look for a brake specialist and ask him to do a once over on the braking system with special attention to the booster.

The clunk could be something like control arm bushes, ball joints, tie rod ends.
Pretty much anything from the front end which wears down.
