Default to drill or not to drill

i made these brackets to fit on the colt and a roof rack fitted on it ,the previous hold fast tipe bracket came loose ,with these ,only the bracket stays on the colt the rest will be dismantled and stored away after a trip.

now i am thinking, will m8 rivnuts fitted in the rain gutter work or drill the holes and fit a plate under the roof and bolt it ,the roof rack will only be used to carry 2 jerry cans and a spare wheel for my trip to namibia
