    Default Pilanesberg self sufficient camping

    Hi
Out of interest, who would be interested in wild/self sufficient camping close to the Pilanesberg?

Im putting together a proposal for a game farm and think a camp site could be worth it. Any comments would be appreciated.
    Regards

As long as it's far from the shebeen sounds that ruin Bakgatla and Manyane. Should then be popular.

Agreed. We love Pilanesberg...but not the camps. Proximity to one of the gates would obviously be a big plus.

unfortuantely proximity to the gates, and peace and quiete are mutually exclusive in this case.

I knew about Manyane - did not realize there were issues at the other two.

To my knowledge that was the last incident, safety a valid concern.

    agreed.

the horrible experience of camping in pilanesberg these past few years, and the complete overpricing of the horribly run down chalets has been keeping me away for some time now.

a nice, quiet campsite within a 20/30 minute drive from an entrance gate will get me visiting as often as possible again.

Slightly off topic, but last fine we were there (July) the problem was not the club next door, but fellow campers, who carried on very loudly until 3am. Despite several requests to the camp staff, as well as asking, twice, personally to the loud party, there was no toning it down until they all passed out. So very rude. Something to be said for small campsite areas with a few guests.

We would also be interested! If it is safe with low Shabeen noise levels, good birding, staying there for the weekend might not be bad either.

I would welcome a decent bush camp close to Pilanesberg. I have not had any major problems wit the camps and the crime issue was at the chalets quite a way from the camping sites. I do not know how the chalets look like but at bakgatla the place is quite ok and not as noisy as manyane.

A quiet bush camp is 1st prize for me, it does not need to be fancy, a water tap with a flush loo and a place to make a fire safely is all I require and if there is no loo so be it, I have my own and can use the water tanks in my trailer for my water needs.

If you are building toilet facilities please do not go for the smelly stinky fly riddled long drops it is really off putting also a bush camp should be kept as neat as any other camp site, not necessary all grassed, sand is acceptable as long as there are no weeds and rubbish laying around, a shade tree or two would be a nice bonus.

I have camped at quite a few bush camps and will be more than happy to share my experiences.

Would love a bush camp near Pilanesberg (agree with all the concerns above though).

    When can I book?
