    Default 1HZ Turbo by SAC.....???

    This must have been discussed ad neuseam, I know.

    I've just sold my V6 Prado I think.

    And I have this MINT 2010 76 Series 1HZ. With a SAC Turbo. Car is mint, driven and taken extremely good care of by a pedantic Owner whom I know well.

    I've taken it for a spin, and well - I'm hooked. Goes unbelievably well, no turbo lag, I can feel that whistle has been set up to just give that little extra to the 1HZ.

    EGT's are around the 500 Degrees mark, so really very "cool"........??

    So................IF I want ti keep this car for a while:

    1) What to look out for/test??
    2) Is that Madman Monitor a reliable, tell tale thing, meaning will it prevent engine hiccups if used and driven responsibly?
    3) ...........Would you??

    Installed at under 30000km jelo, and current miles is now 118000. Done by SAC, and they also serviced the car since the installation. SAC Centurion.

    Hys gestel op 620 dink ek - maar (leeg, op ooppad) kom hy nie sommer verby 500 nie.

    Interessant genoeg, ek Google nou net met my min meganiese kennis:

    1) Daars mense op Mud wat reken die low boost turbo is eintlik SLEG, want jy over "compensate" met 'n heavy voet op die pedaal, en dit neuk die combustion chambers op
    2) Baie okes reken 'n dikker zost is goed vir laer EGT's. Klink ook mooi.
    3) Die 1HZ se pistons het een of ander "wand" (coating??) wat nie lekker met die hoe druk van 'n whistle (mag) werk nie.
    4) As jy heeltyd of vir 'n lang ruk bo 700 degrees ry gaan jou turbo en/of valves chop, en jou pistons kan crack. Eina.

    SO....................

    Weet nie.

    En weereens - dis SO 'n nice kar die, baie BAIE meer driveable.

    Ek like die N/A Diesel, die 1HZ.........maar sal nie met hom kan leef in iets soos 'n 76 nie, hy is genuine net te lui op ooppad.

    Ek probeer myself inchat hier ja want DAMN dis lekker 76 die, maar ja, wil ook maar so informed as possible wees.

    Too much fuel = smoke and heat, high EGT

    Actually, the small turbo will actually make the engine run cooler as it is working like an altitude compensator and makes sure there are very little unburned hydrocarbons which cause soot, carbon deposits, and increased wear on engine components.

    If it has been OK for almost 90,000kms, THEN DON'T FIDDLE WITH IT.

    Middag manne, ek het in dieselfde bootjie gesit n paar maande terug en in alle geval my 76 met die SAC conversion gekoop. Hy het wel n dikker uitlaatpyp en ook n intercooler op. Teen 110km/h sit EGT gemaklik tussen 280-350. Hoogste wat hy ooit gegaan het was 470(Josini bult uit met kamp wa en gelaai vir Moz!!) Ek kan wel s as jy regtervoet te diep trap styg EGT vinnig (overfuel dalk?) so n man moet als dophou en jou bestuurstyl aanpas, hou die enjin in hor rpm veral op oop pad, eerder 4e rat bulte uit as in 5e, en alle temps bly ver onder parameters. Ek sien die Ausies sit n oil cooler ook op? My olie temp was nog nooit bo 74 nie? Wat reken julle is normale oil temp vir n groot diesel? Absolute puik wa, veral as mens eers begin regtig 4x4. En die fluitjie help beslis in die dik sand!

    fuel/air ratio analysis

    SAC should have a unit that can check that.

    Die probleem met a turbo op n 1HZ sit tussen die stuerwiel en die ruglening.....

    A turbo op 79 pick up wat duer n drywer gery is, wat geen mechanicals verstaan nie, is ### soek. Maar as jy weet hy is daar, en verstaan wat sy doel is, en jy weet om EGTs te check, veral as jy sleep of in sand ry.... Dan maak hy n groot verskil. Koop hom en geniet him.

    that said, moet nou nie 1.4 bar boost op n 1HZ sit, met stock internals nie, die is net simple. As jy daai tiepe krag soek, Koop vir jou n 1HDFTE.

    (op n ander nota, ek het vir jou PM gestuur.... wat gaan aan met die Series 3 met die Chevy in wat nie wil start nie)

    we running one with the safari turbo conversion on. Has 200k km on. big tmic. Madman. Zaurst. No issues so far (touch wood). That said it doesnt get driven over 110km/h, never tows and is serviced regularly etc.
