    Default Yes/No - High Miler Ranger 3,2 4x4 Auto (2012)

Wil net so bietjie kers opsteek.

    I can trade in a 2012 Ranger 3,2 4x4 DC Auto.

    One Owner, FSH

    267000 Km.

This is not my normal "line", so Im a bit in the dark here.

I must meet the Client on Friday, in Bloem, and need to make some quick assessments before I say "yay" to the Deal.

I'm happy with the Figures, not paying too much for the Ford at all, BUT yes, I'm jittery, there may be a nasty surprise or 6 lurking in there that become my Baby if I sell it again..

What do I look out for at that mileage??

I was even thinking of making an appointment with some Diesel place to just have it checked quickly.

    THANKS

Called a Friend - Ford Dealer.

He says if all bulletins, etc were sorted, also pipes and so on that chaffed through replaced, and I must just look at the injectors, they may be faulty and may cause bigger nannas. +- R 27000 for new ones.

Getting the Ranger in VERY low, so I'd be able to sell it at a helluva bargain price, but ja - Ek wil ook nou nie oop oe in die akkas inspring nie.

Guys if there IS an injector issue, what to look out for when driving it?? Power?? Smoking?? Starting sluggish??

BAIE DANKIE, this is gonna make or break this Deal!!

    Hi Petri,

Just had my 150k major service on a 2014 2.2 XLS, M/T not the same comparison but R9500. So Labour was R2800, Gearbox oil R2200, Diff oil R540, engine oil R750 and the rest on filters, which included the pollen filter and again the air filter, that was only changed every 45k while under service plan, but notice since ,then they change it every service? Thought he Chain was meant to be done but they say only if it makes a noise?

I have been complaining for the last few services about white smoke on start up and after each service they tell me to observe?? So this time i complain that the smoke is worse at every start up from standing for a while.

So when I get phoned to accept, the quote for the service i am told that the service is R9500, but i need 4 glow plugs changed and this is going to take time and is expensive , unfortunately i interrupted and said i have their "ford premium warranty" and surely this is covered? so don't know what the quote would have been?

The joke is on the invoice i was not charged for the 4 glow plugs, but they did reset PCM learn values AGAIN and did Fit Glow Plug Module Wiring? Not sure if that means glow plugs were changed and as i started the car white smoke bellowed and swambo behind me said said it continued for about 10min. then nothing, So will observe again??

I have posted before on issues on my 2.2 hope the above helps?

Made a mistake, this is the Auto 3,2 4x4 SuperCab, not DC.

Actually nice, I think there's a bigger potential market for a SC than a DC.

Pity its auto - die mense hier koop manual.

Thanks anyway, again, for all inputs.8)

If it was me I'd sell it on to a trader who has the appetite for a risk (low return/low risk). Had it have been a Land Cruiser , totally different story

Saw pics, it actually looks DAMN nice rodney.

I'll re sell it at a major bargain price - it Trades at R 210 000, Retails around R 230 000, I'll flog this at around R 170 000. IF it's mechanically as good as a 265000km car should be.

    Trust your gut Petri.

You clearly have concerns / doubts.

Have come to know you, here on the forum, as a guy who wont sell anyone something that is not a safe bet.

Keep selling cars that you would drive yourself without stressing about what can go boom, its what gives people confidence in doing business with you.

Does this mean that he cant get trade for his Ford?

If you are willing to sell it on at R170k that means the current owner will probably only get R150k on a car that is supposed to get R60k more?

Trade wont happen on a 3.2 Ranger Auto 4x4 SCab with 265kkm on the clock.

Looks clean and original, must say. 1 Owner, FSH. Some nice extras, looks like it also has a canvas canopy. No accident damage or funnies.

Its the XLT as far as I know.

    Thanks AZ, kind words.

Ja, I'm not the Arch Angel of Used Car Stealers, but with something like this I definitely WOULD like to just do a tad more homework - ask advise, take it to a pro to have it checked, etc etc.

Buyer is interested in that accident damaged FJ that I have advertised - we've sent him ALL pics, invoices, really more than enough, so he knows 200% exaccetly what he's buying, I also just want to know what I'm trading.

I'm meeting him in Bloem on Friday, and insisted that he takes the FJ to anyone and everyone he wants to to also just inspect the car for him, and I'll do the same with the Ford.

Selling the FJ on behalf of a Friend, we've been more than transparent on this whole Deal, BUT yes, I'm not gonna retire if the FJ is sold, so I have to make 200% sure the Buyer's happy.8)

I read an advert lately where a Ford dealer somewhere in the Cape is advertising the new Ranger 2 litre Bi-turbo at R80000 discount , this type of tactic doesn't do the value of used Rangers any good . Ford have been doing this since the days of the Sierra if my memory serves me correctly

Just found this advert , it's no wonder Fords battle to achieve their trade/retail values

    1) Ratkas vervang verlede jaar by Ford, hys reg

    So.......klink heel OK.

Hoe swaar is die goed op Diesel, so 8??
