Default Access to Pressure chamber/barometric chamber

This is probably a long shot, but thought letís ask anyway. I am in the final stages of modifying a wildlife tracking device to be used to track sea turtles.

we know everything works, and in theory, based on the specs of the resins used for castings etc, the device should survive deep dives, but it would be great if we could test it.

Does anyone know of any commercially available barometric chambers, that would be able to pressurize a container of salt water to 80Bar, and keep it there for a few hours

It has been years since my last scuba dive, but I think you are talking about 800m depth here!!

How big is it, and does it really need to be salt water?
1996 Patrol 4.2SGL with lots of stuff to make it heavier and thus increase traction?

I was going to suggest one of the places that repairs dive watches and dive computers, but I don't think their equipment will go up to that pressure.

it’s a out the size of an A5 sheet of paper, and about 60mm high at the heights point of the dome

probably doesn’t need to be salt water, it’s just the pressure I am interested in.

exaclty. Latest research suggests that leatherbacks dive up to 1000m, but probably very seldom

Look for a dive chamber or recompression chamber. Often found at hospitals and or university's. I do know of a few in Cape Town

The SA Naval Dockyard has pressure test chambers they use for equipment used external on submarines like the navigation lights. Also try the CSIR and Eloptro, who used to do the submarine periscopes. Not sure if you will get the pressure required though. Kongsberg is represented in SA and they make sonars and transponders that are cylindrical with a length of about 400 mm and diameter of about 200 mm. They are rated at 3000 to 6000 metres. They might have a test lab.

thanks. Some good solid options here. I will be in siminstown in about 10 days, maybe should try arrange something then...... just gotta slip a device into my luggage that is fitted with a GPS, lots of wires, lithium batteries and very much resembles a bomb...... could be interesting.

Courier it to yourself, you will be there before it arrives if you are flying down.

You could also try the places that do hydrostatic testing of cylinders and vessels for ideas.
