    Default Icom 706 prices

Anyone know what the current ballpark price is for a used standard Icom IC706 Mk2G is?
Last one I saw online was R8k - is that about right?
    Thanks

That sounds a bit high. Is that with an ATU? Check on the SARL websites what they sold for before.

    Thanks Leanercamper, very useful info.
I saw the one on HARC for 8k so I was wondering if that's just an asking price or an actual market price. Didn't see the SARL one.
I also wanted to know about the AH4 tuner selling prices, thanks for adding that as well.

Put a few extra bucks in the kitty and get a 7000.

706 is a good OLD radio. But it is ancient technology, unless it is five or six grand you can do better.

    Agreed.

I've kept my 706 for portable use, and have a 7100 mounted in the vehicle. The 7100 is a lot more advanced than the 706 and a pleasure to use. But I'm still holding on to the 706 for a while longer.

I certainly would not pay R8k for a 706, even with DSP filter. I can't remember what I paid for the 7100 second hand - it was close to the R10k mark

you have very good eye sight if you are using ic 7100 as mobile.
and very good hand to eye coordination.

i never owned 7100 but i have worked on it few times.very good radio no question there.

touch screen is not my thing.i hate cellphones and everything else with touch screen for what it matters.

my sosatie fingers are not made for touching, but for pushing.

i prefer older icoms with decent size buttons .sometimes i sit inside shack
in pitch black and can go trough menus without problems.
    mobile,same thing.we are all different.

Thanks - I still use 40-year old Icom 730 and IC-745 so for me, the 706 is positively space age, not ancient
But I'm actually not buying, just selling a bunch of stuff for a friend so I just wanted to get an idea of pricing before I put it out here.
