It all depends on your appetite for risk

Hi Happy VW Owners
I just need some advice, I've read some interesting facts and stories about the Amarok on the 4x4 community threads, after some homework I decided on the Amarok. Now if a Amarok has 260k+ km's and has a FSH etc. is it better to buy through a dealership or private ? and with regards to buying a warranty, would the price be the same to purchase a warranty whether you bought it privately or through a dealership ? I've read on this threads that there are owners who decided not to buy a warranty because the vehicle has a FSH and the price on maintenance is not too bad.
Also would it be wise to buy a 2012/13/15 Amarok with 300 000 km's for R180k ? Even though some Amarok Owners has done almost 500 000 km's and some even more...

If I can service it
Every 10 000km's - Replace Oil and filters
Ecery 30 000km's - Replace Diesel Filters
Every 80 000km's - Replace Timing chain and Cambelt
Could this work ?
Is it auto or manual?
Manual
In that case the only 2 expensive items you have to worry about are the cam belt service and clutch kit.
I would change all transmission and diff fluids every 100k km as well. Apart from that normal services are very reasonable, you will spend way under R2k for those.
I would rather buy older with less kms but thats just me.
Planning on driving my 2010 till around 380k km.
Sitting on 240k km now.
I wouldn’t bother with maintenance plans. Lots of times they in anyway only cover certain items to certain limits.
Going over 250k km I would tend to look at a manual 4m but thats just me.
Aparently a new gearbox from zf is around the 17k mark, whereas the megatronics unit on the auto is way north of three times that.
Mayne do at least try and get a 132kw.
Apparently they drive nicer than the 120s.
I did test drive the 2013 132kw with 261 000km and it was as if it was new. Well thank you all for the comments, SoAmarok 2015 DC 132kw TDI Twin turbo manual 4x2. Highline it is!
