Nice idea Zapiture, there seem to be a lot of fishermen here.

We get a "lite" version here - Oxeye Tarpon.

    Thatís a fine specimen.

are you sure we donít get Tarpon? I donít think we get the Atlantic Tarpon, that only comes as far south as Angola, but the indo-pacific Tarpon we definately get, in Moz at least. Have caught them often off of Bazaruto, and have caught some juveniles pretty far up the Save river as well

Is it the same fish as a bone fish. ? I see they only get up to 500mm. Interesting way to fish. Looks like it could get expensive.

We were in Durban over December and had much better luck than normal. We were going further out than usual, at most around 10Nm off Ballito, then down to Isipingo and generally pottering around the ships and No1.

The weather was actually a bit ### for this time of year, but we still got quite a few fishing days in and managed to bag three relatively okay Dorado, 3 pretty small Tuna, hooked a good few sharks and brought a couple of them to the surface, but I think the big Zambezies were having none of it.

Saw a few turtles out at the ships off LaMercy. We did not do the spearsfishing we were planning on as the water was very dirty close in for most of the time we were there, and we are not brave enough to dive in 30+m especially with all the sharks we were seeing.

Cant figure out where iPhone is stashing my pics now, but will post if I can find the files.

Some pics. Some common dolphins that ran with us for a good few hundred meters miles out off Ballitto. A hammerhead that we brought to the surface, but snapped off just by the boat. And the Dorado that has already been consumed.

Very nice - where was that? We tried a bit of jigging but the current is so fast off dbn that you end up drifting across the reefs in a few minutes.

Everytime I see pics like this my hands itch and make we want to get home and load the flyrods and hit the beach.
