We went to Uithoek near Fouriesburg this weekend, the Owners there are JL and Rulay Mans, they also own and run Lesoba, also near Fouriesburg.

AMAZING place that they built here, we will most definitely visit again, and herewith a couple pics etc etc, should anyone else wish to go there.

We left on Friday, camping with the old Gyspey, being towed by the 60. Camping sites are huge, with a small and big (movable) braai on each stand, a cold water tap, power point and 2 refuse bins.
Plenty shade, no need for a rally tent or awning at all.
Grass sites, immaculately kept........its just damn dry

We were there 2 weeks ago.There are 2 4x4 tracks really good at Lesoba

Well Lesoba is fantastic so I can only gather that Uithoek will be lekker

Sorry Guys - back again.

Yes, they have 2 bass dams (we caught a few), and a very scenic 4x4 route up the mountain. Also zip lines. Fouriesburg is maybe 10 km away, lots of nice little pubs and eateries. Clarens also a VERY scenic drive of around 30 km or so away.

We took a drive up the mountain - not seriously challenging, but ja, low range required.

Some piccies of the 4x4 drive up the mountain. Nice route, steep inclines over sandstone steps. daai BFG's het darem so nou en dan so bietjie ge "tjie tjie" - but no damage, I'd do that with an expensive car too.
Some skill required over some loose rocks and so on.

And I almost forgot the best part for us

That bathrooms.

Squeaky clean.........to say the ablutions are "nice" would be the understatement of the year. They're superb.

Rates are R 100 per stand per night, and then R 100 per person per night, max 6 on a site.

GOOD value - we'll most definitely return ASAP.

There are also some (tamish) game on the farm, zebra, blue wildebeest, springbok, blesbok. LOTS of birds, and also a couple secretary birds.

Water is super strong everywhere, piping hot showers, NO issues there.

Lots of hiking trails and mountain biking would be great there I guess.

Area also felt safe enough, remote gate and all that.

Back again - last post : They also have a couple of these lapas, about 4 or 5 of them - I think a VERY clever feature for a couple families/groups camping together.
Enough braais, power points, lights, refuse bins and water taps everywhere.
Again, the water pressure is VERY high everywhere, and showers get piping hot.

Looks really good. What is the security like. Thinking of taking a very slow drive from Pietermaritzberg to Capetown. Would it be a good place to spend a few days. Are the roads okay for a normal "on road" caravan.?

We felt safe, no issues at all.

Its about 3km gravel, like in plaaspad, but not that bad, just take it easy.
