Default <2018 model Jimny spring spacer install

Finally got my Gabriel HDP shocks, had spring spacers sitting around for a while. Rears went in no problem. Fronts are proving to be a bit harder, is there a trick?

I have spring clamps but can't seem to compress the spring enough to get it out to fit the spacer. Whats the trick?

Remove two caliper bolts and set it aside then remove bottom bolt on the shock. Helps if you do both fronts at the same time so the front axle can drop.

Only issue I have is the drivers side shock is a far more snug fit than the passengers. Casing has rubbed slightly taking off the fancy green paint. Not sure why.

Remove the anti-roll bar links from the axle side. This will allow the axle to droop down low enough to fit the springs. Remember to keep the axle supported though. You don't want the axle to hang on the brake hoses.

There is no need to remove the brake calipers.

Jip leave the calipers, disconnect the swaybar ends, the brackets holding vacuum pipes and abs sensor cable, slide out the plate securing the brake hoses.
The axle can now easily be pushed down to slide the springs in.
I used the scissor jack between the radial arm and frame to push the axle down.
If you have someone helping, this can be done by hand......
I taught this to myself the hard way........
