4 hour drive on dirt roads to Sendelingsdrift to book in.
Beware of the crazy foreign miners that drive this section of road. They treat it like a race track and there go to is to the right side not the left as we do. Day 12
Quick breakfast before 5 hr drive on dirt roads to Boulders Bay, Namaqua.
The section between the Hondeklipbaai access gate to Boulders Bay is the worst section of road I have ever travelled on in Southern Africa. The corrugations were so bad that with 1.5bar tyres I was only able to idle along in first gear at about 5km/h. Turned a 3 hour trip into just over 5 hours.
Travel down to Riethuis and then along the Caracal Trail, stopping at the Spoegrivier Caves.
Camped overnight at Boulders Bay - No Water, Enviro pit toilet. Camp fire and wind wall.
    Evening Braai.
Game Seen in Namaqua - Dassie, Springbok, Gemsbok, Kudu, Steenbok, Toitoise, Ostrich, Kori bustard, Jackal Buzzard, Seals.
We missed the flower bloom due to the early short rains, but there were still a few patches of flowers.
Day temp in upper 30’s. Evening temp at Boulders Bay dropped to low teens with heavy mist and wind.

    Day 13
Early start with a 2 hour dirt road drive to Garies.
Topped up fuel at the Garies Agri.
Topped up tyre pressure and 4 hour tar road drive to Calvinia, stopping at Bagdad Cafe for Lunch.
Toped up fuel at Calvinia Total, provisions at Spar and Meat & wood at Calvinia Slaaghuis.
A 2 hr dirt road got us to Tanwa Karoo to book in and then another hour to the Langkloof campsite.
Passes - Vanrhyns Pass, Gannaga Pass.
Camped overnight in Langkloof - kitchen area (no cooking apparatus), toilet and hot water shower.
    Evening Braai.

    Day 14
Early morning game drive down to Oudebaaskraal dam before a late breakfast at Langkloof.
Chilled around the Camp with an afternoon Braai and a short evening game drive.
Game Seen in Tankwa Karoo - Eland, Springbok, Gemsbok, Kudu, Steenbok, Toitoise, Baboon, Ostrich, Kori bustard, Jackal Buzzard, Flamingos.
    Day temp in upper 30’s.

    Breakfast stop in Sutherland.
Passes - Verlatekloof Pass, Rooikloof Pass, Rooipoort Pass, Oukloof Pass.
Booked into Chalets at the Karoo.
    Dinner in the Restaurant.

    Day 16
Breakfast in the restaurant before a game drive around the park along the Nuweveld and Afsaal 4x4 loops.
Afternoon Braai - Beer, Wine, Wood and meat from park shop.
Chilled and walked around the camp.
Passes - Klipspringer Pass, Charlies Pass. We did not do the short Pienars Pass as R300 for a 6km pass was a bit to steep.
Game Seen in Karoo - Eland, Springbok, Klipspringer, Hartebeest, Zebra, Gemsbok, Kudu, Steenbok, Toitoise, Baboon, Ostrich, Kori bustard.
    Temp down to 20’s

    Day 17
Breakfast in the restaurant before the 7 hour drive on Tar home via Route 62.
    Toped up at Engen.
Stoped at Boeteka Farm Stall and got a Springbok Leg etc. to take home.
Lunch stop at the Sweaty Dutchmen in Kareedouw.
Had snow on the Witteberg Mountains on the way home.
    Passes - Meiringspoort.

We had extra spare tyre, but did not have any problems in Richtersveld or the other parks, driving with correct pressures and slower speeds made for a comfortable ride as well.
The Arid parks are very dry and have had little or no rain. Even the desert trees, the Halfmensa and Quyiver trees are die'ing due to the dry conditions. Amazing how the animals are still able to survive.
Do not expect to be able to see wildlife so easy, you can drive for hours without see'ing anything.
