    Hi Markus

send her the url's from this forum, the disco3/4.co.uk and the Aulro forums.

Should keep her reading for days on end.

Having worked with the warranty department of one of the big luxury brands from Europe, all I can say is that the failure rate of TDV6/SDV6 cranks and sub assemblies due to crank and/or bearing seizures is frightening to say the least.

When MB was faced with massive negative consumer feedback on the W124 range (mainly from taxi operators) in Germany within 18 months of launch, they invested 2 billion Deutsche Mark to fix the problems. Thereafter the W124 went on to become one of the best selling MB models ever. Otherwise well.............

This is the major reason that OR is not on my shopping list. The factory should have come to the party when this crankshaft problem first surfaced instead of pulling in the head in tortoise fashion. This is s avery obvious factory fault.Without proper backup from the factory this has done immense damage to the brand and will continue to do so.Rather buy something else.!!

You do know why nobody is making replies to this thread?
Anywere in the world it's okay to speak about TDV6 crank failures but here.
    The consequences are bitter .

As someone who owns a 2012 SDV6 with 230 some k, and a 2017 with only 50k, the speculation sure makes me nervous.

Being completely honest, if I had been aware of all those failures I might not have bought.

There are just so many choices out there - well, OK, with same capability is LR4, not lots - but there are choices. Not worried about the 2017 - will sell it when it nears the end of the factory coverage - but the 2012 is our "out in the bush" machine... and has done us really well so far. Fingers crossed, it has no problems.

Yeah in the last week, I've had a mate write off his 2012 3 Series BM after oil pump went at 70k on the clock, another's ML left on a flat bed this morning from her house so what do you buy now a days? They all the same.

It's not a brand thing, it's the era we in nowadays.

Yep, planned obsolescence is a thing. Why have a vehicle last forever?? Where is THAT a good business plan?

It's like people who make small batches of cement pots and think they can make a living off of it: duh, do they realise cement pots aren't really consumable items?

Wanting to swop my tdv6 for something else because of the known issues, but everytime I find something I like and do some research, I realise that all newish 4x4's have some sort of reliability issues.. Stumped at this stage what to get😂

Seems like the crank issues became quiet with the 4 ,s . You will be very unfortunate if you lose one of them to crank failure , if I recall right most of the crank failures was before 200k on the d3

I did not read all of the above, just a quick google search and you find stuff coming up tells me there is still an issue.
