    Default Amatola Hiking Trail

Has anyone here done the Amatola hiking trail, 100kms, 6 days.
Got any tips or advice for me ? I'd want to do it early next year so I'm looking for opinions of other fellow hikers. Thanks

Ahh thought something was wrong. Why you asking about a trail in Turkey ? This is EC section.

I have not done the 100km trail.
Only the 38 to 40km trail as a trail run.

You will not believe how pretty it is up around the top of those mountains.
Scenery and water that people never see. Its a lot of climbing but stunning and well worth it.

The 100km as a trail run is done over 2 days.
The 40 is I think around 7 hours on average. To run it.

Hunter26 - what do you mean of careful of your safety? robbing and so on? I did it in 1988 (yes in the last century)- we didn't see any other people for 6 days. Have there been genuine incidents recently? I'm planning to do it again solo - now after all these years.
    - I have led more than 100 extreme wilderness trips (also these hutted footprint trips) since 1985 - have never had an issue with safety except once being attacked at a Moz backpackers.

I have sent a PM with my contact details (email address). I would encourage any reasonably fit hiker to come and experience the 6 day Amatola trail. I attach a few pictures to wet the appetite.

I have done the hiking trail approx 26 years ago. Cannot really add any value about tips etc. What I do remember though is that we got soaked the first 3 days from all the rain (early May). The river was in flood that made it very challenging. The Eastern Cape actually got rain back then. It was the most beautiful hike that I have ever done.
