    Default Hluleka Nature Reserve attacked

Devastating news that the owners were attacked. We have fond memories of our visit there in December 2018.

My hart goes out to all involved. Wild Coast has so much promise but crime is killing all prospects of a tourism future.

MURDER is involved, the wife was stabbed to death. This is devastating, Hluleka was on my shortlist... May the perpetrators be apprehended quickly!

Amazing how low profile these terrible crimes has become....bottom of page 7.

From first hand experience Iíd say thereís a serious drug problem in the area. We were watching Voetspoore and I said to SWAMBO there is so much more to see in the area, it could be a worldclass tourist destination.

My wife said sheíd go again but stay way clear of that specific area. Two bad experiences during our trip and both happened in that area. Drugs are rife.

Such a pity. I absolutely love this place.

It appears they were guests from Underberg. See: https://www.timeslive.co.za/news/sou...in-ec-reserve/. The wife died, the husband is in critical condition.

For something like 9 years straight I did not get dressed without my CZ75, then went to the UK for +8 years, came back and seeing all the latest attacks it is time again to be "paraat boet".

It is truly sad both ways.

Terrible, I know a bit more about this and extremely sad.

Hope the husband makes it as they also apparently have a nearly 2 year old son who saw it all.

The Witness are carrying an article today with insinuations that it may not have been a simple robbery gone wrong - jeez I hope that is not true.

Edit - sorry, the link is not working. Google "natal witness hluleka" and read the Pressreader article.

Got a similar impression from the News24 article last night, but lets not jump to conclusions.

Yip, but "loud voices" could also mean arguing with burglars, who knows ?

Unless someone has a bit more detail about the loud voices, ie personal arguments ?

Agreed about shouting at burglars. The burglars could also have fled in panic without taking anything.

I think the article I mentioned is too speculative.

More information, certainly looks like an attack.

I guess that we will find out as more information comes to light.

I know the family, friends with Matt and Kariís folks since 1970ís. Have heard the voice notes from family and friends after Matt was moved from ICU. It was an attack, donít listen to the sh#t the locals are trying to punt. The locals know who did it, there should be a complete tourist boycott, with the associated loss of jobs and income until the perps are turned in. Simple.

Strongly suggest that nothing too much is said, it might affect the investigation. Matt is out of immediate danger and has made statements, forensics will be clear and unequivocal - rumour and conjecture not helpful.

Thanks for the additional clarity. Takes the gender based violence out of the equation, which the press are alluding to, and which is causing all the speculation.
I hope they catch whoever did this and string them up by their testicles until they die.
