    Default Diesel particle filter

The DPF in our Touareg’s light came on during this week, the fuel level was a bit low and my wife only does short trips during the week.

It has successfully regenerated after about 10minutes on the highway.

Is it safe to use STP Diesel Particle Filter cleaner http://www.stp.eu/en/products/additi...filter-cleaner

in VW engines? As an added measure in looking after your DPF?

You only do short town trips during the week, most of the times?

I would much rather just give it a good burn on the hi-way every so often to get it up to working temperatures where the PDF can burn itself clean.

Those VW DPFs have got that burn free cycle. The ECU measures the pressure differential over the DPF and determines when a burn free cycle becomes necessary.
That is how the system looks after itself.
The very first generation of DPFs were not monitored by the ECU and could clog up due to lack of longer trips. In that case it might make sense to use a product.

In your case I wouldn't bother. The ECU looks after the DPF. At best you would pay money for a product you don't really need, at worst it might have undesirable side effects.
